Description

Jon Tenney and Rebecca Romijn headline the scripted drama King & Maxwell. Sean King and Michelle Maxwell aren't your typical private investigators. Both are former Secret Service agents, and their unique skills - not to mention their undeniable chemistry - give them a leg up on conventional law enforcement. Maxwell is a former Olympic athlete who uses her brains, beauty and Beltway connections to solve cases. King's career in the Secret Service ended when the presidential candidate he was assigned to protect was assassinated, sending him on a downward spiral. Trying to put his life back together, King has added a law degree to his arsenal of skills, allowing him to navigate the system in ways a typical private investigator never could. Along the way, King and Maxwell clash over everything, from her garbage-strewn car to his preference for wine over beer.

I don't know why they cancelled it. The books are as good as the series.

Humor, interesting plot for the pilot, competent characters. Getting the whole series.
  • Horrible

Terrible writing, stereotype characters, one cliche after another, no original ideas.
  • Great show…but only 10 episodes?

I liked this show better with every episode, but it should have had a longer season for even better character development. Nice to have a show that is not super violent, full of sex scenes, and with a minimum of language. The relationships and dialogue are way beyond the average TV show these days.

Ten episodes is a rather short season, but King & Maxwell should have been put out our misery after the second or third show. The characters weren't developed, the stories were even more predictable than average, and even Edgar was beginning to wear on my nerves. I still think that Maxwell needs a new actor for the role - one who can do even the simplest physicality the role demands. Romijn should be embarrassed at how often her stunt double is used....

I didn't read the book but the main characters are so perfectly picked. I hope there will be season 2. Its also interesting in a sense that there are not so many fight and sex scenes as other same genre shows have.
  • Good and getting better every episode

I don't know what show these two came from, but I find this to be a fresh, funny and fast-paced show. I tend to like this genre of TV shows. The chemistry between these two is great without being overtly sexual. I especially like Edgar, the autistic savant. He is a terrific addition to the ensemble.
  • Edgar makes this show!

If there was no Edgar I'd give this show 2-3 stars. I'm so glad to see Ryan Hirst using his acting skills in such a departure from Opie - SOA. At first I couldn't believe it was him and had to look up the cast on IMDB.
  • Showing Significant Improvement, Thank Goodness!

I've waited to write about this show for several reasons...the most important being that I'm not familiar with Rebecca Romjin (I've never watched X-Men...it's not the type of show I normally watch). I agree with many of the reviews here...there has been a glaring lack of chemistry between Tenney and Romjin. *BUT* the current episode (Episode 5 "Loved Ones") is SO MUCH better! Chemistry is "sneaking through" ...the two of them, Tenney and Romjin, are working together much better and the storyline is flowing nicely - whew! Ryan Hurst (Edgar), without question steals the show...he's just amazing. The only complaint I have is they're not giving him enough on-screen time. He did get a fairly good amount of screen time on some episodes but there haven't been enough since then. He's an incredible actor and he'll be the one to make this show a BIG hit! So come on producers and directors - make sure Edgar gets more time in front of the camera with Tenny and Ronjim.
